Thiel Macro<\/strong>, the fund tied to Peter Thiel, has returned to U.S. equity markets with a $418 million portfolio built around a single thesis: demand for nuclear electricity will grow far faster than the grid is prepared to handle. After reporting zero positions in the two previous quarters, the fund filed a 13F with the SEC concentrating more than 72% of its assets in energy stocks.<\/p>\n

The new positions for Q2 2026 include American Electric Power<\/strong>, CMS Energy, DTE Energy, FirstEnergy, Vista Energy, and advanced reactor developer X-energy<\/strong>, which has been listed on the Nasdaq since April 2026 following a $1.02 billion IPO. Thiel Macro purchased 200,000 shares of X-energy for approximately $3.7 million. X-energy, through its high-temperature gas-cooled Xe-100<\/strong> reactor, is one of the developers selected by the U.S. Department of Energy for the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, and could receive up to an additional billion dollars in federal funding for its Texas project.<\/p>\n

Thiel’s ties to the nuclear sector extend beyond equity positions. He sits on the board of General Matter<\/strong>, a uranium enrichment startup that secured a $900 million DOE contract to build domestic LEU and HALEU capacity \u2014 the advanced fuel required by next-generation reactors. The companies in the portfolio are actively lobbying Washington on issues such as permitting for new reactors, DOE financing, and managing grid constraints linked to data center growth. In its 2026 filings, AEP explicitly lists the siting of advanced nuclear reactors and federal funding as top regulatory priorities.<\/p>\n

What emerges is the picture of an investor who is not betting on a single stock, but rather positioning across multiple nodes of the supply chain: the reactor manufacturer, utilities with contracts already signed with big tech, advanced nuclear fuel, and the major end customer.
