The appointment comes at a pivotal moment, with two major initiatives running in parallel.<\/p>\n<p>His scope of responsibility is clearly defined. Clark will manage the <strong>1.8 GW strategic agreement with Google<\/strong> and the <strong>1.5 GW SMR project in southeastern Ohio<\/strong>, working in close coordination with the licensing and regulatory affairs team. For the Ohio project, Elementl has already signed an Early Works Agreement with <strong>GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy<\/strong> for the deployment of <strong>BWRX-300<\/strong> reactors: five units of 300 MW each, for a combined capacity of 1.5 GW. The site spans approximately 700 acres in Meigs County, along the Ohio River, roughly 100 miles southeast of Columbus. Elementl has agreed to purchase the land from American Municipal Power, which originally acquired it for a coal plant that was ultimately abandoned in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Clark joins from <strong>Kairos Power<\/strong>, a developer of advanced nuclear reactors, where he held a senior leadership role. Prior to that, he was a partner at Boston Consulting Group. His profile combines deep technical knowledge of the nuclear sector with proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects \u2014 precisely the skill set Elementl needs as development moves from the drawing board to real-world execution.<\/p>\n<p>This appointment fits into the broader story of a company founded in 2022 with a clear stated goal: bringing more than 10 GW of next-generation nuclear power online in the United States by 2035. <strong>Google<\/strong> has provided seed capital to prepare three potential U.S. sites for advanced nuclear projects. The Ohio project is entirely privately financed \u2014 no burden on taxpayers or consumer electricity rates. Any risk of construction delays falls on Elementl and its private industrial offtakers. Construction at the site is scheduled to begin in 2030, with first power delivery expected in 2034.<\/p>\n<p>The BWRX-300 is a natural-circulation light water reactor featuring passive safety systems. The first unit is currently under construction at Ontario Power Generation&#8217;s Darlington site in Canada, with completion targeted by 2030.
