Planned capacity reaches up to 5 GW at full build-out — the equivalent of five typical 1 GW nuclear reactors, according to US Department of Energy data.

The facility’s first phase targets approximately 1 GW of on-site capacity within two years. That figure alone matches the output of an entire nuclear reactor and meets the annual electricity demand of roughly 800,000 American homes. At full development, the site will reach 5 GW — enough to power around 4 million US households, per Energy Information Administration benchmarks. Generation will be fueled by LNG produced directly on-site.

The agreement includes a service contract with an initial term of ten years. Within eight weeks, INERGX will conduct a design study on the first generation and storage block — the so-called First Block Study — which will establish the technical foundations of the first phase. Project validation will be carried out by an INERGX testing and certification partner accredited in Italy under both European and American standards. The parties aim to reach definitive agreements within twelve weeks of the study’s acceptance.

A cornerstone of the partnership is a battery supply chain entirely free from Chinese sources. INERGX commits to sourcing cells, battery packs, and battery management systems exclusively through European partners or other approved non-Chinese suppliers, with full documentation of each component’s origin. No change of source will be permitted without written approval from EM&T. End-of-life battery packs will then be assessed for reintegration as raw material into EM&T’s own recovery cycle, closing the loop on the value chain.

Evolution Metals & Technologies describes itself as the only American company with a vertically integrated supply chain for critical materials — rare earths for permanent magnets, battery materials, and related strategic minerals. The partnership with INERGX fits into a broader strategy: the recovery of battery black mass — the material obtained from processing spent batteries — to reintroduce into the production cycle components that would otherwise depend on Chinese supply. Upcoming mine-to-magnet restrictions expected in 2027 make this kind of domestic self-sufficiency all the more pressing from an industrial standpoint.

On the financial side, EM&T has already issued revenue guidance for fiscal 2027 in the range of $400 to $460 million, driven by the expansion of rare earth magnet production. The INERGX agreement strengthens that trajectory by adding a layer of energy independence that reduces exposure to external markets. Should the First Block Study deliver the expected results, INERGX will be designated as the preferred partner for all future EM&T facilities across the United States — a precedent that could set the industry standard for large-scale critical materials recovery sites in the country.

Evolution Metals & Technologies (NASDAQ: EMAT) has signed a letter of intent with UK-based INERGX Energy Optimisation to power a large-scale American critical materials recovery plant, with planned capacity of up to 5 GW — the equivalent of five nuclear reactors.
