Tsodilo Resources<\/strong> has incorporated two subsidiaries, one in the Democratic Republic of Congo and one in Namibia. The announcement was made on October 14, 2026. The Toronto-listed Canadian company is thus extending its exploration for critical minerals and rare earths beyond Botswana.<\/p>\n

The two companies are named Tsodilo DRC S.A.R.L.U and TSD Namibia Mineral Resources. In Congo, activity is concentrated in the provinces of Haut-Lomami and Tshopo, where the targets are lithium, tantalum, niobium, gold and copper. In Namibia, the focus is on the Kunene region in the northwest of the country, with potential copper and polymetallic deposits.<\/p>\n

Chairman and CEO James M. Bruchs said the Botswana projects remain the priority, including the Gcwihaba rare earths project. According to Bruchs, the company saw an opportunity to put its drill rigs, geophysical equipment and in-house expertise to work in other jurisdictions as well.<\/p>\n

The context explains the move. In 2024, Congo attracted $130.7 million in exploration investment, more than any other African country. Namibia, for its part, is positioning itself as a copper destination, thanks to economic diversification, the reopening of mines and growing exploration activity.<\/p>\n

The picture remains preliminary. Tsodilo has not yet acquired any projects or exploration licenses<\/strong> in either country. Talks with licence holders and the relevant government offices are under way, but the company itself warns there is no certainty they will be concluded. Bruchs says he is cautiously optimistic.<\/p>\n

One point is worth clarifying for Nucleare readers. The move concerns copper, lithium, tantalum and rare earths, not uranium. The uranium-sector names that appear in some lists of mining companies cited in the press release serve to describe the extractive landscape of the two countries and do not indicate any Tsodilo projects tied to nuclear fuel.<\/p>\n

Namibia remains one of the world’s leading uranium-producing countries, and any future Tsodilo presence in Kunene could eventually overlap with that sector. For now, that is a hypothesis with no support in the company’s documents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
