Cameco<\/strong> closed the third quarter of 2026 with net earnings of C$43 million, compared with roughly break-even in the same period of 2025. The average realized uranium price rose to $91.76 per pound, up 8% from $85.22 a year earlier. The company also declared its annual dividend.<\/p>\n

The uranium segment, the core of the Canadian company’s business, delivered 5.6 million pounds in the quarter. Segment earnings before taxes were C$175 million. For the first nine months, net earnings reach C$199 million.<\/p>\n

Results from Westinghouse<\/strong>, of which Cameco owns 49%, were solid. Cameco’s share of adjusted EBITDA rose from C$124 million to C$143 million, driven mainly by higher fuel volumes in the core business. The net loss attributed to Cameco narrowed to C$24 million, from C$32 million in the third quarter of 2025. Westinghouse remains a strategic holding for the group, CEO Tim Gitzel noted, with the focus on its long-term success.<\/p>\n

The comparison with 2025 is affected by a one-off item. In the second quarter of last year, Westinghouse received about C$170 million tied to the project for two reactors at Dukovany in the Czech Republic. Without that payment, the picture is more straightforward. The quarter’s adjusted result is a loss of C$2 million, reflecting lower earnings from Westinghouse and higher unit costs.<\/p>\n

On the production side, the company refined its guidance. Uranium production for 2026 is expected at between 19.5 and 20.5 million pounds, a narrower range than before. The quarter’s output was 3.5 million pounds. The decline from 2025 stems from the annual planned maintenance shutdown at the Key Lake<\/strong> mill, which began in the summer rather than the spring and involved the installation of new infrastructure. Cameco does not expect a material impact on its full-year results. The Cigar Lake shutdown, by contrast, took place in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

Gitzel said that, in his view, the fundamentals supporting nuclear energy are stronger than ever. He added that artificial intelligence and data centers offer an additional growth outlook for nuclear, but are not the premise on which the group’s strategy rests. For the Italian market, which is looking at a return to nuclear power, the figures matter: Canadian uranium feeds a supply chain in which rising prices support new investment in mining.<\/p>\n

With sales volumes already committed for 2026 of between 29 and 32 million pounds and a rising realized price, Cameco enters the final quarter with good revenue visibility. Westinghouse<\/strong>‘s contribution will depend on customer delivery timing and progress on AP1000 projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
