Do renewables make investing in nuclear pointless?

False as a general rule.

Solar and wind are essential and in many cases the fastest and cheapest sources to install. However, a system with high shares of variable renewables also requires grids, storage, flexibility, dispatchable load, and low-emission dispatchable generation. The IEA considers nuclear a possible complementary source to renewables, not an automatic substitute or a necessary adversary.
