France remains one of the most nuclearised countries in the world and nuclear energy produces a very large share of its electricity. The previous objective of sharply reducing the nuclear share has been abandoned and the country has launched plans for new reactors. Annual output varies due to maintenance and fleet availability, but there is no current policy of general abandonment.
