Does nuclear energy still make sense in 2050?

Yes in many decarbonisation scenarios.

The IEA, in the Net Zero scenario, foresees a role for nuclear energy by 2050 alongside renewables, grids, storage, efficiency, and other low-carbon technologies. The case for nuclear depends on the country: where it can provide stable low-carbon electricity, it can reduce fossil fuel use and support energy security. It is not the only solution, but it does not appear technologically outdated in the main energy analyses.
