Will nuclear energy be an outdated technology in 20 years?

Not according to the main current analyses.

The IEA speaks of a new phase of interest in nuclear energy, with reactors under construction, life extensions, and SMR programmes. At the same time it acknowledges challenges: costs, timescales, financing, supply chains, regulation, and public acceptance. It is possible that some technologies become more competitive and reduce the role of nuclear in certain countries, but there are no grounds to assert that it will certainly be obsolete in 20 years.
